どうやら mt-config.cgi に環境変数として設定する必要があるみたいですね。とりあえず解決しました。
6月28日に公開したMovable Type 3.3に、動作上の不具合が発生しております。近日中に修正版をリリースする予定です。
Movable Type 3.3 にいくつか不具合が見つかったみたいだけど、あがっている不具合とは別におかしい現象を見つけたので TB でもしてみることにします。新機能のエントリー・タグのアーカイブページは mt-search.cgi が動くようになっているので検索結果のテンプレートをカスタマイズしないといけないのだけど、検索結果の中で <$MTEntryExcerpt$> で各エントリーの概要を表示するようにすると、ブログの設定で概要の文字数を変更しているのにも関わらずデフォルトの40字しか表示されない現象が発生するみたいです。他の月別アーカイブページではちゃんと設定が反映されてるので、検索結果での動作に問題がありそうなんですけどこれって不具合じゃないのかなぁ。

検索結果で概要文字数が変わらないとのコトですけど、
検索結果でのなので、
mt-config.cgiに「ExcerptWords」という設定値を設定しないと概要の文字数は変わらないですね。
